ANNOUNCEMENT: Elsie Saint Louis to Receive U.S. Haitian Chamber Patriotic Award
The U.S. Haitian Chamber of Commerce is honored to announce that Elsie Saint Louis, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Haitian Americans United for Progress, Inc. (HAUP), will receive the 2024 U.S. Haitian Chamber Patriotic Award at the 5th Annual Haitian American Young Professional Awards and Gala Night. The event will be held on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, at the Marriott Hotel in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Ms. Saint Louis has led HAUP, a community-based organization serving the New York Tri-State area since 1975, through a remarkable period of growth. Under her leadership, HAUP has spearheaded a multi-million-dollar capital campaign that gained significant support from both New York State and city governments. Her efforts have focused on providing vital services to Haitian immigrants and underserved communities, ranging from education and legal assistance to resources addressing food insecurity and health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to her work with HAUP, Elsie Saint Louis founded the Love and Serve Haiti Mission (LASH) in 2010. LASH focuses on empowering communities in Haiti through long-term projects, including two schools in Sarazin and Masson that provide quality education to over 600 children. The mission also supports entrepreneurial ventures in these communities, ensuring economic growth and self-sufficiency for residents.
Ms. Saint Louis’ commitment extends beyond her leadership roles. She has held executive positions with notable institutions such as the New York State Insurance Reciprocal, the Catholic Medical Center, the Archdiocese of New York, and CK Partners on Wall Street. She also served on Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio’s transition team in 2013, contributing to the selection of the city’s next mayoral administration.
Her extensive contributions have been recognized by numerous organizations, including her role as a board member of the New York Immigration Coalition and her involvement with the Congressionary Immigration Taskforce. She continues to be a strong advocate for Haitian communities, both in the U.S. and internationally.
